Packing your vacation wardrobe doesn’t have to be difficult when there’s the latest from VP by Valerie Perez, inviting you to Wrap Yourself in Luxury. Inspired by sarongs worn in Thailand, VP by Valerie Perez features delicious spa wraps of the highest quality microfiber, evolving from her previous line Wrap Up to include silk sleepwear, kaftans and kimonos along with stylish resort chemises and dresses. Born in Casablanca, Morocco, Perez was surrounded by bold patterns, spending her childhood in a world of vibrant colors. She soon discovered her talents in fashion while working at Max Azria after moving to Los Angeles at the age of 15. Spending many years as a successful business owner, Perez took a sabbatical for a journey of self-exploration, traveling across China and Thailand in search of creative inspiration resulting in the beautiful prints that make up VP by Valerie Perez collections. We at Splash Magazines asked Valerie Perez a few questions, diving into how she got started, her process, ethos and more.
How did you get your start in the fashion world?
After finishing school, I dove into the fashion world by working with Max Azria. It was a pivotal moment when I first arrived in Los Angeles. I contributed to his store, helping it thrive, and even created a Limited Edition (LE) line for the retail space. That experience not only honed my skills but also deepened my passion for fashion as a form of art and innovation.
What sparked your interest in fashion?
Growing up traveling to Paris, Spain, and Italy, my fascination with fashion blossomed naturally. Each city had its own rhythm—Paris with its timeless elegance, Spain with its vibrant colors and flamenco-inspired flair, and Italy with its unmatched craftsmanship. Fashion wasn’t just clothing; it was art, culture, and identity all woven into one. Seeing the creativity on display, from the runways to the streets, sparked something in me. Fashion became my language, my way of expressing everything words couldn’t.
Why did you decide to enter the world of luxury resort spa and leisurewear?
I wanted to design a collection of clothing that combined style, comfort, and practicality – pieces that were light, wrinkle-free, and easy to pack while still being effortlessly stylish and sexy. At the time, I noticed a gap in the market for clothing that offered the soft, luxurious feel of a vacation paired with a sense of style and elegance, that gave women confidence and I set out to fill it with “Wrap Up by VP“, which has now evolved to “VP by Valerie Perez.” The VP by Valerie Perez Summer 2025 fashion is about effortless elegance, sustainable luxury, and vibrancy. It’s a fusion of comfort and bold expression!
What is your brand´s ethos?
We believe that being at home doesn’t mean compromising style. Our pieces are designed to be comfortable, elegant, and practical, perfect for everyday use while embodying a sense of effortless sophistication.
What are some of your inspirations and design influences?
My background, being born in Morocco, is my first and most profound influence. The vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and deep cultural heritage of Morocco shape my aesthetic. Additionally, I draw inspiration from the masters of fashion such as Dior for timeless elegance, Cavalli for bold and daring designs, and Pucci for his signature use of vivid prints and patterns. Together, these influences create a unique fusion of tradition and modernity in my work at VP.
Could you describe your process of selecting/designing prints? How is each piece made?
Each piece is crafted individually using a method called sublimation. The journey begins with designing the print. Once the print is finalized, it is sent to a specialized printer to produce the pattern on transfer paper. This paper is then carefully placed on the robe, ensuring precision and alignment while the robe is laid flat. The sublimation process fuses the design seamlessly into the fabric, creating vibrant, long-lasting prints that embody both artistry and craftsmanship.
Could you describe your choice of fabrics?
Choosing the right fabric is essential to my designs. For robes, I needed something lightweight, absorbent, and super soft against the skin, while also being compatible with sublimation printing to achieve vibrant and lasting designs. For pajamas, I adore the luxurious feel of silk but wanted a more practical alternative—something that captures the essence of silk yet is easy to wash, maintain, and perfect for travel. This balance of comfort, elegance, and functionality defines my fabric choices.
Who are you designing for?
I design for women who appreciate beauty and want to feel special at every moment – from waking up to going to bed. My pieces are perfect for resort life and travel, offering versatility for every occasion. A woman who can wear a VP Kaftan at the beach and then pair it with heels for dinner, going from day to play. My designs cater to those who balance multiple roles and personas. Whether at home, on vacation, or out for an evening, VP pieces allow women to feel chic, comfortable, and empowered.
